Queens nightclub shooting

Ten people were injured in a shooting outside the Amazura nightclub in Jamaica, Queens, on New Year’s Day, the New York Police Department (NYPD) confirmed. Authorities reassured the public that the incident was “not a terrorist attack.”

The shooting occurred around 11:18 p.m. outside the nightclub, which was hosting a private event with approximately 90 attendees. Police said three to four males approached the venue and fired over 30 rounds at a group standing in line outside. The gunfire struck multiple vehicles before the suspects fled westbound on 91st Street toward 143rd Place, where they entered a light-colored sedan with out-of-state plates.

The suspects remain at large, and police are searching for a gray Infiniti sedan believed to have been used in the escape.

The victims, six females and four males, were transported to nearby hospitals. None of the injuries are life-threatening, and all are expected to survive, according to police.

The Amazura nightclub, which has a capacity of 4,000 and regularly hosts DJ performances and events, became the scene of a large emergency response following the attack.

The NYPD emphasized that the shooting was unrelated to terrorism, despite occurring on the same day as two other high-profile incidents: a terrorist attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans that left 15 dead and a Cybertruck explosion outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas that killed one person.

Authorities continue to investigate the Queens shooting and urge anyone with information to come forward.
